Today, Mitsubishi is helping its customers meet their challenges, through providing innovative technologies and high-quality products and solutions. Mitsubishi has a large network of partners who make a critical contribution to the company being the strong force that it is today. Mitsubishi recognises that to be successful, their customers have to be successful. They created a fund for all their partners based on the amount of spend a partner buys from Mitsubishi, helping to develop a better relationship.
In close collaboration with Mitsubishi, its partners strategically chose from a list of approved events and packages to enable them to develop closer relationships not only with its clients but also Mitsubishi. These events and packages also give Mitsubishi a chance to engage in a relationship with its partner’s clients, which has been found to create a stronger relationship with all parties for the longer term.
Mitsubishi have been using golf as a vehicle to improve its relationships for a long time and have brought Clubs Away on board to enable them to make further improvements. When asked about the improvements that Clubs Away made to the Mitsubishi Electric golf experiences, Michael Chamberlain Director Clubs Away said “Mitsubishi really understands the importance of long-lasting client relationships and invests time in getting to know their client’s needs. The problem was that the golf trips they were organising to Portugal or Spain for a long weekend were quite complex and took a huge amount of organising. As a result, the Mitsubishi representative and its partner spent more time doing the organising rather than spending time with their clients. That's the first thing we worked on - we took away all the hassle of the organising the package, from booking the flights and accommodation to the design of the tee times and making sure that Mitsubishi and its partner could have meetings and discussions with every client that attended the trip”.
In addition to the trip management, Clubs Away provided a PGA Professional Golfer to run the sessions, book the tee times and deliver coaching sessions. Mitsubishi and their partners usually go to 5* resorts including the golf courses. The condition and layout of the golf courses are different than the ones we play in the UK, for example the greens are a lot quicker, the grass shots different. The PGA Professional is there to help people manage those conditions along with coaching and improving their general golf game. Michael says “The PGA Professional asses each player and provides individual tuition. We run optional 2 hour coaching session on the range every morning, which are incredibly popular with clients and we cater for all standards of golfer, from the novice to the recreational golfer, to the regular and professional ones”.
Mitsubishi found that their clients were a lot more willing to have a business conversation when they were playing good golf. If they get 3 or 4 holes into the round and they are not playing well, the PGA Professional is there to step in and get them back on track.
On a trip delivered in March 2015 in the Algarve, Portugal, one of Mitsubishi’s partners attributed £3 million worth of sales to the success the trip.
